[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) held the opening ceremony of the Uidong Mountain Culture Hub on the 17th.

The hub is a mountain exhibition and experience center and a complex space where visitors can enjoy Bukhansan and the Himalayas in one place. It is equipped with a mountain experience center, Everest exhibition hall, indoor climbing wall, and a special exhibition room. It was established on two basement floors with an area of 3,800㎡ at the entrance of the Uidong Resort Condominium. The name HUB was derived from the first letters of Himalaya, Um Hong-gil, and Bukhansan in English.

At the event, Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Kyum-soo, Captain Um Hong-gil, and officials from the Human Foundation and the Mountain Federation attended. The guests cut the ceremonial ribbon (tape cutting) and toured the facilities. In particular, they watched seasonal videos of Bukhansan at the mountain experience center and tried virtual reality (VR) programs using indoor climbing equipment (climbing machines).

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) held the opening ceremony of the '2021 Yangcheon Light Festival' on the evening of the 16th at the outdoor reservoir of the West Seoul Arts Education Center.

The 2021 Yangcheon Light Festival, held for 46 days from the 16th of this month to January 30th next year, was planned to deliver a message of hope to residents through light exhibitions based on hanji (traditional Korean paper) sculptures and art installations, under the themes of ‘Coexistence’ and ‘Companionship.’

The festival space is composed of four themes: ▲Whirlwind of Light ▲Forest of Coexistence ▲Dream of the Stump ▲Sea of Empathy, offering various attractions such as about 5,000 shining fish and a giant whale sculpture.
