Eastsoft "Rounds Surpasses 4 Million Monthly Uses of Virtual Eyewear Try-On Service"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Eastsoft announced on the 17th that the number of uses of the virtual eyewear fitting service through the app of the real-time virtual fitting eyewear shopping mall ‘ROUNZ’ has surpassed 4 million per month.

This represents an approximately 800% increase compared to the previous year. Many consumers are trying on glasses on their smartphones through the ROUNZ app more than 1 million times a week and over 150,000 times daily without visiting offline optical stores.

The number of downloads has also grown significantly this year. Currently, ROUNZ has recorded over 500,000 cumulative downloads. This is an 1800% increase compared to the previous year, showing explosive growth in consumer interest in ROUNZ. ROUNZ, the only domestic app introduced on Apple Korea’s homepage among augmented reality services, was also selected as the App of the Day on the App Store last September.

The reason ROUNZ could provide an innovative eyewear purchasing experience is that it built an O2O (Online to Offline) omnichannel tailored to the domestic situation. Since prescription lenses can only be purchased at optical stores in Korea, ROUNZ supports customers to purchase frames online and have the products delivered to optical stores to fit the lenses. In other words, the entire eyewear purchasing process is smoothly provided through a single app.

To provide omnichannel services in the domestic eyewear market, ROUNZ has partnered with about 280 optical stores nationwide, focusing on regions where online purchases are concentrated. For this, they analyzed accumulated big data over several years. Currently, the partnerships ROUNZ has established rank as the third largest in terms of the number of domestic optical franchise stores. The company plans to expand its service area to over 1,000 optical stores next year by actively extending to detailed regions in line with the increasing trend of online sales.

Kim Myungseop, CEO of ROUNZ, said, “So far, ROUNZ has focused on the online eyewear purchasing experience and emphasized innovation through technology, achieving several meaningful results. Although ROUNZ started as an online service with innovative technology, we will present ways for eyewear brands and all offline optical stores nationwide to grow together in the future.”
