Jeonnam Fire Department, Green Light for Securing Safety of Local Fire Station Buildings

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 9th that it has secured 1 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for disaster prevention.

Special grants are funds provided by the central government to local governments with certain conditions or usage restrictions to balance financial capabilities.

Projects eligible for special grants in the second half of 2021 are selected through a central government ministry review committee.

The special grant projects selected this time are for seismic reinforcement of the Mokpo Fire Station and Yeosu Fire Station buildings, with 700 million KRW and 300 million KRW allocated respectively.

According to the detailed safety inspection results of the existing buildings, the comprehensive facility evaluation was rated 'B grade' to ensure the safety of fire stations and enhance the utility of public facilities by securing safety.

Accordingly, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters plans to reflect this project in the 2022 supplementary budget to accelerate safety management through building reinforcement.

Chief Ma Jaeyoon said, "With this national fund secured, we will reduce the provincial burden, prepare seismic reinforcement measures for aging fire stations, minimize human and property damage caused by earthquakes, and make every effort to establish a fire force deployment posture."
