Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Conducts Fire Safety Inspections on 16 Cultural Properties

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Nambu Fire Station (Chief Lee Jeong-ja) announced on the 8th that it will conduct fire safety inspections of cultural properties due to increased fire risks in winter and heightened concerns over the loss of cultural assets.

The fire special investigation team will visit and inspect 16 cultural properties, including the monument Pochungsa located in Nam-gu, and joint inspections involving local governments and related agencies such as the electricity department will be conducted as needed.

The main inspection items include ▲whether fire-fighting facilities are operating normally ▲appropriateness of fire extinguisher locations ▲safe handling and supervision of fire sources ▲prevention of forest fires around cultural properties ▲measures to prevent freezing of fire water facilities.

Kim Haeng-mo, Director of the Prevention and Safety Division, said, “Initial response is very important in cultural property fires,” and added, “We will make every effort to prevent fires through thorough safety management guidance.”
