[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Air Busan announced on the 8th that despite the recent spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, it will continue operating the Busan-Guam route without interruption.
Air Busan stated that since international flights at Gimhae Airport have reopened with great effort from the local community, it plans to continue operations despite potential losses, fulfilling its responsibility as a regional airline.
Air Busan explained, "The international air route at the regional airport has only recently reopened, and since the severity of the Omicron variant has not yet been confirmed, suspending flights would dampen the recovery sentiment of the tourism industry, which has been struggling to revive. This could lead to prolonged economic stagnation in the region. Therefore, we have decided to operate as scheduled until accurate analysis results on Omicron are available."
Currently, Air Busan is accepting reservations for the Busan-Guam route only from passengers departing from Korea and is not accepting passengers departing from Guam. In accordance with strengthened measures by domestic and international quarantine authorities, the airline prioritizes thorough quarantine measures.
