COVID-19 Cases in Gwangju Reach 50s After 8 Days

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 8th, 57 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in one day, classified as cases 6568 to 6624.

By infection route, 15 cases were related to existing confirmed patients, the highest number; 10 cases were related to an exercise group from another region; 7 cases were linked to a logistics center in Buk-gu; 6 cases were related to confirmed patients from other cities and provinces; 2 cases were connected to a nursing hospital in Gwangsan-gu; 2 cases were related to a leisure gathering in Dong-gu; and 1 case was linked to a daycare center in Gwangsan-gu. There are also 11 confirmed cases whose infection routes are under investigation due to symptomatic testing.

The number of confirmed cases related to the exercise group from another region has increased to 12 since the index patient was confirmed on the 6th.

At a nursing hospital in Gwangsan-gu, which was cohort quarantined following a cluster infection last month, 2 additional confirmed cases occurred in a different ward.

On the 6th, after a confirmed case was identified at a logistics center in Buk-gu, a full investigation of contacts was conducted, resulting in 7 additional confirmed cases.

Among the additional confirmed cases, some are also employees of another logistics center, and health authorities are conducting further epidemiological investigations.
