‘Ji·San·Hak’ One Team Drives Regional Innovation … Busan City Hosts ‘JiSanHak Cooperation Conference’


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A ‘One-Team’ meeting where local governments, industry, and academia, including the Mayor of Busan and the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, come together to seek future innovation will be held.


Busan City announced that on the 6th, from 3:20 PM, it will hold the ‘2021 Busan Industry-Academia Cooperation Conference’ at Paradise Hotel Busan in Haeundae under the theme ‘Innovation for the Future, Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Changing Busan.’


This event, held to raise local community interest and provide a platform for communication to create a ‘Busan as an Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation City,’ will be attended by Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan; Jang In-hwa, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce; Do Deok-hee, President of Korea Maritime and Ocean University; and representatives from local companies, universities, and institutions. The meeting will be broadcast live on the Busan Technopark YouTube channel.


The conference will begin with a promotional video of the Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation Center’s corporate branch. The launch ceremony of the One-Team for Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation, consisting of seven supporting organizations including Busan City, Busan Technopark, Busan Economic Promotion Agency, Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, Busan Design Promotion Agency, Busan Institute of Industrial Science and Innovation, and Busan Regional University Consortium Technology Holding, will also take place.


Mayor Park Hyung-joon will deliver the keynote speech on the theme of a 15-minute city Busan through industry-academia cooperation.


Following this, there will be presentations on university innovation and talent development by President Do Deok-hee of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and on company-led industry-academia research and development and commercialization cooperation by Jang Seok-young, CEO of Geumyang Innovation. The conference is expected to be a time to explore the discovery and development direction of the Busan-type industry-academia-government cooperation model.


Mayor Park Hyung-joon of Busan said, “Busan’s pioneering industry-academia-government innovation for the future will be a driving force that revitalizes the local community by strengthening university and industrial competitiveness,” adding, “Busan City will create a governance for industry-academia-government cooperation centered on the Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation Center, which serves as the control tower, to make Busan an innovative city.”
