[Asia Economy Reporter Yoonju Hwang] Dongkuk Steel Group has established a new 'Facility Technology Office' as a steel investment control tower within its main subsidiary, Dongkuk Steel, as part of its future preparation efforts. Additionally, Park Dongho, Vice President and CEO of Intergis, has been promoted to President.
On the 3rd, Dongkuk Steel Group announced a total of 17 executive personnel changes, including President Park. This year's personnel changes are summarized by the keywords 'performance-based' reflecting business results and 'future preparation.'
Dongkuk Steel stated, "We pursued change amid stability," and explained, "Despite the prolonged COVID-19 situation, reflecting this year's outstanding business performance, the scope of executive promotions has more than doubled compared to last year (6 people)."
Along with this, organizational restructuring was also carried out. To review new steel facility expansions and rationalizations and actively promote the strengthening of the steel business's core competitiveness, the new 'Facility Technology Office' was established. Director Joo Janghan was appointed as the new head of the Facility Technology Office.
The newly established Facility Technology Office at Dongkuk Steel serves as the steel investment control tower for new steel facility expansions and rationalizations. As a capital-intensive industry, steel's core competencies depend on the introduction of the latest technology, facility expansion, and rationalization. Dongkuk Steel plans to enhance the core competitiveness of the steel business by planning new expansions and rationalizations centered on the Facility Technology Office and establishing mid- to long-term investment strategies.
The Dongkuk Steel Facility Technology Office is organized directly under the COO and collaborates closely with each plant's facility management team and production team. The Facility Technology Office plans new expansions and rationalizations of hot-rolled (rebar, structural steel, heavy plate) and cold-rolled (cold rolling, plating, color coating) facilities, the introduction of eco-friendly processes, and the implementation of smart factories. The facility management team executes these plans, while the production team operates them in a collaborative system.
