[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices continue to decline in the afternoon session. The selling pressure is mainly driven by foreigners and institutions, and the volatility has significantly increased due to concerns over the spread of the Omicron variant.


As of 1:18 PM on the 30th, the KOSPI stands at 2,877.38, down 1.10% (31.94 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened the day at 2,932.71, up 0.80% (23.39 points) from the previous close, showing an early gain of over 1%, but it fell more than 1% in the afternoon.


Looking at investment trends, it is analyzed that selling pressure is pouring out mainly from foreigners and institutions. Foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 134.4 billion KRW and 383.6 billion KRW respectively, while individuals bought stocks worth 486.3 billion KRW alone.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics is down 0.14% at 72,200 KRW. NAVER (-0.13%), LG Chem (-1.54%), Samsung SDI (-1.97%), and Hyundai Motor (-0.5%) declined, while SK Hynix (0.43%), Samsung Biologics (0.68%), Kakao (0.41%), and Kia (0.13%) rose.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is at 985.39, down 0.70% (6.95 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ opened at 1,003.04, up 1.08% (10.70 points) from the previous close, showing gains of over 1%, but is currently increasing its decline. Regarding investment trends, foreigners alone sold stocks worth 145 billion KRW, while individuals and institutions bought stocks worth 83.3 billion KRW and 55.9 billion KRW respectively.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM (3.99%), Pearl Abyss (2.4%), L&F (0.22%), Wemade (2.21%), and Celltrion Pharm (0.49%) rose, while Celltrion Healthcare (-0.72%), Kakao Games (-1.45%), HLB (-1.74%), and Seegene (-2.93%) declined.
