Professor Yang Seunghak of Honam University Leads Discussion at Gwangju Disaster Safety Industry Conference

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Honam University announced on the 28th that it held a comprehensive discussion on the paradigm shift in disaster management in the post-COVID-19 era and the response to the evolution of AI convergence industries at the '2021 Gwangju Metropolitan City Disaster Safety Industry Conference' on the 25th.

At the conference held to develop policies for fostering the disaster safety industry and to build networks, Professor Yang Seung-hak served as the chair of the comprehensive discussion. Along with five experts from universities and research institutes, he shared various convergence cases between the disaster safety industry and the 4th Industrial Revolution and discussed future strategies and policy directions for the disaster safety industry, including safety-related issues faced by Gwangju Metropolitan City and response measures.

The discussion panel included Professor Kang Hyun-wook from Chonnam National University, Lee Seung-joo from Korea Electronics Technology Institute, Yoon Jae-chul, former director of the National Civil Defense Disaster Safety Education Institute, Lee Yong-tae from Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, and Jo In-hyung from Gwangju Jeonnam Research Institute.

In addition, the conference featured four keynote presentations: "Changes in Disaster Environment and Disaster Management Directions after COVID-19" by Lee Jong-seol, Head of Safety Research at the National Disaster Safety Research Institute; "AI-based Disaster Safety Common Platform Construction Plan" by Kim Jong-won, Dean of the Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology; and "Establishment of Disaster Safety Innovation System and Response Strategies in the Post-COVID-19 and AI Era" by Professor Choi Sang-ok of Korea University.
