[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A man in his 20s accused of attempting to forcibly abduct an 8-year-old female elementary school student was sentenced to prison.
The Incheon District Court Criminal Division 9 (Judge Kim Jin-won) announced on the 27th that it sentenced A (26), who was indicted for attempted abduction of a minor, to 4 months in prison.
The court stated, "The defendant confessed to the crime, showing remorse, and it appears the crime was somewhat impulsive. Additionally, the defendant's poor health condition is recognized as a mitigating factor."
However, the court explained the sentencing reasons, saying, "The defendant's guilt is heavy considering the crime involved an attempted abduction of an 8-year-old victim, the defendant has not been forgiven by the victim, and despite receiving a suspended sentence last year for molestation, the defendant committed this crime during the probation period without self-restraint."
Earlier, A was indicted for attempting to forcibly abduct victim B (8), who was waiting for her mother on a street in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, at 10:07 p.m. on June 4, approaching her with the words "Do you have a cigarette?" before attempting the abduction.
