[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A hiker who trespassed on privately owned pension land to cross more quickly and climb the mountain was sentenced to a fine.
The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 4 (Presiding Judge Park Joo-yeon) announced on the 27th that it sentenced Mr. A, in his 60s, who was prosecuted for trespassing, to a fine of 500,000 won.
According to the Ulsan District Court, Mr. A was indicted for entering privately owned pension grounds while hiking in May of last year when it started raining, in order to ascend more quickly.
When the pension owner said, "There is no path here, please leave," Mr. A ignored the request, walked 100 to 200 meters, crossed a wire fence, and then returned to the hiking trail.
The court ruled, "Since the pension owner told the hiker at the entrance that access was prohibited, it is considered that Mr. A was fully aware of the trespassing on private property."
