'Vaccine Coverage 81.6% in Mokpo'... Gradual COVID-19 Return to Normal Life Begins

Formation of Daily Recovery Task Force, Operation of 4 Subcommittees Including Support for Vulnerable Groups and Economic Livelihood Assistance

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that it will form the ‘Mokpo City Daily Recovery Promotion Team’ to safely return to daily life from COVID-19 and prepare for a phased recovery of daily life.

The Daily Recovery Promotion Team is led by the mayor as the head of the team and consists of four subcommittees: support for vulnerable groups, economic and livelihood support, social stability, and quarantine medical care. It plans to actively respond to the government’s With-Corona strategy and take the lead in implementing support measures for various sectors of society weakened by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the current COVID-19 response functions such as vaccination, self-quarantine, and home treatment, the promotion team plans to focus on revitalizing the local economy and overcoming social polarization so that self-employed people and vulnerable groups who have suffered from long-term social distancing can recover to the pre-COVID-19 situation.

A city official stated, “According to the government’s phased daily recovery roadmap to be announced early next month, we will prepare detailed plans for each sector and proactively respond to citizens’ daily recovery, doing our best to overcome the overall economic and social crisis caused by COVID-19.”

He added, “For a phased recovery to daily life and for the precious safety of yourself and your family, please actively participate in COVID-19 vaccination, which can reduce the risk of infection and the incidence of severe cases.”

Meanwhile, as of 6 p.m. on the 25th, Mokpo has completed the first dose vaccination for 179,284 people, which is 81.7% of the total population, and 157,102 people, or 71.6%, have completed full vaccination.
