Since 2017, the Cheongsong-gun Farmers' Association has held the "Tongil Rice Hand Transplanting Event," where participants experience traditional hand transplanting rice seedlings, sharing the importance of unification and hoping for unification every year.
Most of the sales proceeds from the rice harvested through this event are used to promote inter-Korean exchange projects, and some are donated to vulnerable groups in the region.
President Oh Chang-rok said, "As COVID-19 has prolonged, we agreed with the members to donate rice to help vulnerable groups facing difficulties."
Yoon Kyung-hee, Mayor of Cheongsong-gun, said, "I hope the Tongil rice, carefully cultivated by the farmers' association members, will contribute to inter-Korean agricultural exchanges and become a source of hope for neighbors."
