Naver Discusses Improving Accessibility for Digitally Disadvantaged Groups

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver announced on the 22nd that it held a seminar to discuss ways to improve online accessibility for digitally marginalized groups.

The 'Neolly Seminar,' held annually since 2012, is a forum to consider ways for all users?including people with disabilities, the elderly, and non-disabled individuals?to equally access and use information and services online.

This year, discussions were held under the theme "Digital Inclusion, Diversity, and Accessibility." Participants included blind test engineers (engineers with visual impairments who can conduct service testing based on professional knowledge), developers, and academic experts working at Naver.

Naver proposed improved coding methods to enhance mobile accessibility for users with visual impairments.

Naver also shared self-produced code samples on the 'Neolly' homepage to help developers more easily apply 'WAI-ARIA,' an international technical standard established for accessibility improvement, during the service interface (UI) implementation stage.

Song Daeseop, Head of Agenda Research at Naver, said, "We will continue to actively strive for accessibility technology research so that Naver's diverse technologies can be used as technologies for people and improve accessibility for users."
