Scientist Turned Painter... "I Put My Heart on the Canvas Like Writing a Paper"

Munsungin, Senior Researcher at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Holds Solo Exhibition of Muninhwa and Oil Paintings from 21st to 27th

Scientist Turned Painter... "I Put My Heart on the Canvas Like Writing a Paper" Researcher Moon Seong-in of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute will hold a solo exhibition of ink wash paintings and oil paintings titled '45·Life is a Journey' from the 21st to the 27th.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] "The worst scientist is not an artist but a scientist, and the worst artist is not a scientist but an artist." This is a quote from French physicist Armand Truscot. Science and art, often considered unrelated, frequently come together to create great synergy.

In fact, a scientist is attracting attention by holding an exhibition of works painted with unique observation skills and delicacy. The protagonist is Seongin Moon, a senior researcher at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, who recently hosted a personal exhibition of ink and oil paintings titled '45·Life is a Journey.'

Researcher Moon conducts studies at the Atomic Energy Research Institute to enhance nuclear power plant safety by predicting changes in materials and structures through simulations and artificial intelligence. With the keen observation and delicacy characteristic of a scientist, he began painting to capture the world as he sees it on canvas. Since 2015, he has been learning ink painting intermittently under the tutelage of painter Jin-guk Kim, and has been recognized for his skill and passion by winning grand prizes at the 2018 Kim Saeng Calligraphy Exhibition and the 2020 Shin Saimdang Art Exhibition.

This exhibition, '45·Life is a Journey,' is his first solo exhibition, showcasing various works expressing what he has personally seen, thought, and felt over 45 years of life. The exhibition will be held for a week from the 21st to the 27th at the Daejeon gallery 'Art & Art B (Mikong Gallery Cafe, Daeheung-dong).'

Researcher Moon said, "Just as I publish research results in papers, I have gained an opportunity to express my own thoughts on canvas," adding, "Through the works exhibited, I hope to share the stories in my heart with the viewers, even if only for a moment."
