Lee Jae-myung "Apologizes for Involvement of Some Employees in Daejang-dong"

Lee Jae-myung "Apologizes for Involvement of Some Employees in Daejang-dong" Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung is responding during the National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee's audit of Gyeonggi Province on the 18th.

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate and Governor of Gyeonggi Province, apologized for not being able to recover 100% of the development profits from Daejang-dong. He also bowed his head regarding some of the staff under his command being involved in the Daejang-dong incident.

On the 18th, Lee appeared as a witness at the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee's audit of Gyeonggi Province held at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Suwon. He stated, "As the person with personnel authority, many people were mobilized in the process of retrieving the stolen goods from these thieves, but there are allegations that some of them, contrary to my expectations, allied with the thieves," adding, "I sincerely apologize for my poor personnel decisions and for some of the staff I commanded being tainted and involved in corruption."

Furthermore, he questioned, "(All citizens) are suffering so much because of housing prices and losing motivation to work due to real estate unearned income, and with the Daejang-dong incident layered on top, how could they not feel alienated, excluded, and angry?" He then expressed regret, saying, "I made efforts to prevent this, but ultimately, not recovering 100% is my shortcoming."

Lee especially promised, "From now on, I will do my best to ensure that there is no situation where the People Power Party or political forces unilaterally block public development by creating systems, and also to fully recover development profits so that citizens are not disappointed by real estate unearned income."
