[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) is holding a commemorative exhibition titled "The Painter's Memorandum" to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the opening of the Jongno-gu Public Park Nosu Art Museum.

This exhibition, the ninth since the opening of Park Nosu Art Museum (34 Ogin 1-gil), offers a precious opportunity to see works by painter Park Nosu and photographer Cho Sun-hee in one place, aiming to bridge the 40-year gap between the painter and the viewers.

Following the preview video provided online from September 30, offline viewing has been supported from this week while strictly adhering to quarantine guidelines.

Cho Sun-hee, a leading photographer in the fashion photography world, participated in this project out of admiration for the pure artistic world of painter Park Nosu. She explored the entire house imbued with the painter’s artistic vision and captured its traces within her frames.

In addition to photographer Cho Sun-hee’s works, visitors can appreciate various works by painter Park Nosu, including ‘Mountain,’ which feature his distinctive vivid yet clear colors, as well as books, illustrations, cover art, and various other materials.

Also attracting attention are the meticulously cultivated garden, various props and stone artifacts collected by the painter, garden stones, and viewing stones scattered throughout the museum.

For more detailed information regarding viewing, please contact the Jongno-gu Public Park Nosu Art Museum.

Jongno-gu is operating not only the 8th anniversary commemorative exhibition but also nighttime events so that citizens exhausted by COVID-19 can enjoy the autumn night atmosphere and have a special time with culture and arts.

This is the "Monthly Night Walk," held every Friday and Saturday from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM between October 22 and November 6. Participants will view the outdoor exhibition along with "The Painter's Memorandum" and take part in a photo certification event.

To prevent COVID-19, the event will be conducted with a small number of participants, and applications are accepted through the Jongno Cultural Foundation website.

The "Jongno-gu Public Park Nosu Art Museum" was established on September 11, 2013, based on about a thousand pieces including works painted throughout the lifetime of the Korean art master Namjeong Park Nosu, the house and garden he cultivated over 40 years, and various antiques and art objects he collected.

Starting with the opening exhibition "Moon and Boy," the museum has held a total of eight planned exhibitions up to "Clear Wind at Riverside," and has operated a "Children’s Art Education Program" every school vacation. It plans to continue hosting exhibition-linked education for local residents, special lectures by invited experts, and garden concerts.

Mayor Kim Young-jong said, “I am very pleased to hold the 8th anniversary commemorative exhibition of the Jongno-gu Public Park Nosu Art Museum, and I will continue to strive to provide residents with high-quality cultural benefits.”
