Gunsan Airport, Successful Resumption of Gunsan~Jeju Flights!

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Gunsan Airport marked the 1st anniversary of resuming the air route connecting Gunsan and Jeju on the 8th, showing a successful soft landing.

Jeonbuk Province announced on the 12th that Jin Air and Jeju Air celebrated the 1st anniversary of increased flights on the Gunsan-Jeju route on the 8th of this month, successfully stabilizing despite the COVID-19 crisis.

The number of flights at Gunsan Airport increased by 24% compared to the same period in September 2019 before COVID-19, and the number of passengers has recovered to about 87%, meeting the transportation demands of local residents.

Additionally, up to September, 1,756 flights operated, with approximately 190,000 people using Gunsan Airport, significantly improving air travel convenience for Jeonbuk residents.

Meanwhile, the three Gunsan-Jeju routes were completely suspended in March last year due to COVID-19 and other reasons, but after persistent efforts by Jeonbuk Province, Jin Air and Jeju Air began service, operating a total of four flights (two per airline, eight round trips) since October 8 last year.
