This Year's Science and Technology Job Fair Will Be Held in the 'Metaverse'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The Ministry of Science and ICT will hold the "Youth Science and Technology Job Fair," connecting innovative technology companies with young science and technology professionals, online from the 12th to the 27th.

The event will be conducted in a non-face-to-face manner through an online recruitment hall, with a total of 163 companies participating across four promising future technology fields: digital, green & smart city, advanced sectors, and bio & health, planning to hire approximately 1,200 people. The opening ceremony was held using online video and a metaverse platform.

At the opening ceremony, a job talk concert was held where current employees shared honest and vivid job experiences, and a real-time screening of employment senior V-logs was shown, providing a glimpse into the research sites and activities of early-career employees. Additionally, a metaverse recruitment consultation was piloted, allowing young science and technology professionals to ask HR representatives real-time questions about the company's talent requirements, company information, and recruitment positions in a virtual space.

Furthermore, introductions to employment support services were provided to assist the diverse job-seeking activities of young science and technology professionals participating in the fair, including job boot camps and artificial intelligence (AI) mock interviews.

After the opening ceremony, for young science and technology professionals who have not succeeded in finding employment through the online fair, professional career counselors will provide 1:1 employment consulting to support recruitment connections.

Yong Hong-taek, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "Since resolving youth unemployment is a national task, even if physical distance increases due to social distancing, the recruitment market distance should be closer through non-face-to-face services," and “I hope that through this event, many companies striving for technological innovation and young science and technology professionals seeking jobs will be connected.”
