[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association (Chairman Jeong Cheol-dong) announced on the 23rd that it actively supported the export and marketing activities of domestic companies at 'ECOC 2021,' one of the largest optical ICT industry exhibitions in Europe.
The Photonics Industry Promotion Association formed a joint pavilion with 11 Korean companies at the exhibition held from the 13th to the 15th, promoting the excellence of domestic optical communication convergence technology and supporting export consultations with local buyers to open new sales channels.
This exhibition mainly showcased next-generation optical communication network equipment utilizing optical application technologies such as optical connectors, optical cables and distribution boxes, and optical transceiver converters, strategically targeting the European optical fiber and telecommunications ICT market.
The 11 dispatched domestic companies overcame the situation of not being able to participate offline last year and actively engaged in consultations with overseas buyers related to optical communication and optical convergence who wished to visit in person.
In addition, continuous on-site consultations regarding optical communication-related technologies and products are expected to lead to detailed agreements on market entry and supply contracts in Europe through separate negotiations, with ongoing contract successes anticipated.
Choi Woong, CEO of Neon Photonics Co., Ltd., and Kim Haeng-jung, CEO of Xbeam Tech Co., Ltd., who participated in the joint pavilion, stated, “The Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association continuously participated in ECOC, one of the world’s top three optical communication exhibitions, even amid the COVID-19 situation, establishing a foothold and opening sales channels for entry into the European market. We are pleased that gradual results are emerging through networking with overseas companies.”
The Photonics Industry Promotion Association plans to invite overseas buyers who consulted with companies locally in Europe to the ‘2021 Optical Convergence Industry Roadshow’ (November) to be held at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center to expand the outcomes.
Jo Yong-jin, full-time vice chairman of the Photonics Industry Promotion Association, said, “Despite the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the willingness of our domestic optical communication companies to participate was remarkable. We will strive to create tangible sales effects for companies through continuous support even after the exhibition ends.”
He also stated, “We will take the lead in continuously promoting joint pavilions at promising overseas exhibitions (such as the US OFC 2022, Germany Light & Building 2022, Dubai Arab Health 2022) to expand export sales channels for companies in the future.”
