Declaration of Support for Candidate Lee Jae-myung by 4,000 Athletes in Gwangju and Jeonnam Specializing in Professional, Recreational, and Disabled Sports

<Gwangju-Jeonnam Sports 4000 Athletes Declare Support for Candidate Lee Jae-myung>


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] At 11:30 a.m. on the 16th, 4,000 sportspeople from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions declared their support for candidate Lee Jae-myung in front of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Sports Council.


The support declaration included not only professional and recreational athletes but also para-athletes and university professors from the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas.


According to sportspeople from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, the establishment of a Sports Agency, stabilization of local sports finances, and the establishment of basic sports rights are necessary for a new leap forward in South Korean sports, and they declared their support for candidate Lee Jae-myung to achieve this.


The declaration of support was also attended by many academic figures, including Pi Gil-yeon, president of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Mountaineering Federation, executives of sports organizations, and professors Yoon Onam and Jeong Hongyong from Chosun University.


In the field of para-sports, many athletes participated, including Kim Se-jung, a rowing national representative who participated in the Tokyo Paralympics and moved the public deeply, as well as Jang Kyung-su (former president of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Disabled Persons' Federation) and Shin Seok-seop (representative of the Korea Disabled Sports Development Forum in Gwangju), expressing strong expectations for the development of para-sports.


Kim Eung-sik, former senior vice president of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Sports Council, who read the declaration of support as a representative, stated, “Candidate Lee Jae-myung is the only candidate who can firmly establish local sports, the foundation of South Korean sports,” and declared, “Sportspeople from Gwangju and Jeonnam will unite their strength to achieve a new leap forward in South Korean sports together with candidate Lee Jae-myung.”


Attending as a representative of Lee Jae-myung’s Open Camp, National Assembly member Ahn Min-seok (chief special advisor to candidate Lee Jae-myung) expressed gratitude, saying, “The passionate wish of sportspeople from Gwangju and Jeonnam for the development of sports will surely be realized under the Lee Jae-myung government.”
