Minister Lee In-young Holds Video Meeting with Separated Families Ahead of Chuseok

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 16th, Lee In-young, Minister of Unification, will conduct a video call meeting inviting separated families by utilizing the infrastructure for separated families' video reunions.

This video call meeting uses 3 of the 7 newly expanded video reunion rooms established this year. It will be conducted by mutually connecting the video reunion room located at the Korean Red Cross Seoul office with the video reunion rooms in the branches and volunteer centers of the Korean Red Cross in Uijeongbu, Hongseong, and Jeonju.

Through this meeting, the Minister of Unification plans to share and comfort the pain of elderly separated family members and listen to various opinions regarding the separated families issue.

In addition, ahead of Chuseok, the Ministry of Unification will promote various non-face-to-face consolation projects for separated families and displaced persons. On the 17th, a 'Minister of Unification's Video Chuseok Greeting' containing messages of consolation and encouragement for separated families will be delivered to all applicants, and it will also be released through the Ministry of Unification's YouTube and social network services (SNS).

On Chuseok day, the 21st, support will be provided for on-site guidance, flower offerings, and incense burning to ensure that visitors to the Imjingak Mangbaedan in Paju can safely and conveniently pay their respects.

Starting from the 7th of next month, the 'Separated Families Hometown Photo Exhibition' will be held at the Odusan Unification Observatory so that separated families and displaced persons can feel the atmosphere of their northern hometown and soothe their longing for home.
