[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] SSG.com is steadily increasing the number of small business owners and small-to-medium partner companies joining its platform, thereby boosting sales.
According to SSG.com on the 16th, the number of small-to-medium partner companies with annual sales under 10 billion KRW and small business owners joining the platform in the first half of this year increased by 42% compared to 2019, and sales grew by 65%.
This aligns with SSG.com’s growth strategy. To increase the number of product categories and secure product competitiveness, SSG.com has continuously expanded the participation of small business owners. Representative examples include the win-win crowdfunding platform 'Ururu', the entry of famous nationwide fashion road shop brands, and the sale of agricultural products auctioned on the same day at Garak Market.
Among these, the most notable progress is seen in small business owners and small-to-medium partner companies handling fresh products, including agricultural, livestock, and marine products.
SSG.com established itself as a leading online grocery shopping mall by launching the same-day delivery service 'SSG Delivery' and starting dawn delivery in 2019. Through this, not only primary product suppliers such as fruit, meat, and seafood vendors but also new entrants like meal kit, HMR (Home Meal Replacement), bakery, ready-to-eat food, and side dish manufacturers have actively joined. After COVID-19, as the 'contactless shopping trend' became widespread, sales of related products surged.
The total sales of small business owners and small-to-medium partner companies handling fresh products, including agricultural and fishery cooperative associations that joined SSG.com in the first half of 2019, increased by 227% as of the first half of this year. As the sales scale grew, the average sales per company per half-year rose by 105%, from 127 million KRW to 260 million KRW during the same period.
Gwak Jeong-woo, Head of Operations at SSG.com, said, "We participate annually in government-led win-win promotions to increase sales together with small business owners and small-to-medium partner companies who face difficulties in securing sales channels." He added, "Through this, SSG.com can also offer customers a diverse range of excellent products from all over the country, which helps our growth."
