[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said on the 24th, ahead of the regular National Assembly session next month, "This will practically be the last legislative opportunity for the Moon Jae-in administration's national agenda," and requested, "I ask the National Assembly to cooperate so that major bills can be passed promptly."

On the morning of the same day, Prime Minister Kim presided over the 37th Cabinet meeting at the Government Complex Sejong and said, "In the first half of next year, it is expected that discussions on bills in the National Assembly will not be easy due to the presidential election schedule."

Prime Minister Kim pointed out the bills that must be passed during the regular National Assembly session, including ▲ the Military Court Act containing military reform measures ▲ the 'Carbon Neutral Green Growth Basic Act' and the 'Data Basic Act' related to the Korean New Deal ▲ the 'Child Allowance Act' and the 'Basic Act on Low Birthrate and Aging Society' to address the low birthrate issue ▲ laws related to the second phase of fiscal decentralization ▲ and the 11th Korea-US Defense Cost-Sharing Agreement.

Prime Minister Kim urged, "Cabinet members should thoroughly explain the purpose and content of the bills to lawmakers from both ruling and opposition parties and seek active cooperation," adding, "Furthermore, unless the matters are classified as state secrets, please actively strive to inform the public in detail about the progress of various policies." Through this, he added, "Please enhance the acceptability of policies and ensure that government policies are not unfairly misunderstood."

Meanwhile, at the Cabinet meeting that day, the amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Social Security Benefits Act, which includes a customized benefit guidance system, was submitted. Prime Minister Kim requested, "The Ministry of Health and Welfare and related ministries should closely cooperate with local governments to ensure that the customized benefit guidance system operates effectively in the field," and urged, "Please also proceed without delay with the establishment of the 'Next-Generation Social Security Information System,' which will unify information systems in the social service sector."
