Nakdonggangcheong, Inspection of COVID-19 Medical Waste Management Practices Lee Hojung, Director of the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office, is visiting a COVID-19 dedicated treatment facility to inspect the management status of medical waste.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Woo Jong-wook] The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office announced on the 5th that it recently inspected the management status of medical waste at treatment facilities due to the increase in confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam areas.


With the 4th wave causing COVID-19 medical waste in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam areas to surge to about 8 to 9 tons per day recently, strengthening management of waste storage facilities and maintaining a prompt processing system have become even more important.


The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office inspected the management status of COVID-19 medical waste targeting large waste generators such as general hospitals and residential treatment centers within its jurisdiction, as well as medical waste disposal companies.


Director Lee Ho-jung stated, "We plan to check if there are any areas needing improvement in the discharge and disposal process of COVID-19 medical waste and reflect them in related guidelines."
