Damyang-gun Accepts Applications for Government-Supplied Barley and Rye Seeds Until the 20th of Next Month

[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang County is accepting applications for government-supplied barley seeds through the town and township agricultural consultation offices until the 20th of next month.

According to the Damyang County Agricultural Technology Center on the 29th, the barley seeds being offered this time are supplied by the National Seed Management Office, providing two barley varieties (Hwinchalsal barley and Saesal barley) and one rye variety (Gogu).

The announced quantity is 1,580 kg for the three varieties: 1,000 kg of Hwinchalsal barley, 500 kg of Saesal barley, and 80 kg of Gogu rye.

Barley is supplied as both treated and untreated seeds, while rye is supplied entirely as untreated seeds. When applying for the supplied seeds, applicants can choose whether to have barley seeds treated or untreated.

The application unit is 20 kg per bag. The price for treated barley seeds is 22,620 KRW, untreated barley seeds are 21,280 KRW, and untreated rye seeds are 39,440 KRW.

The received applications will be supplied starting from September 13, and applicants can pay for the seeds and collect them at the regional agricultural cooperative selected during application.

Farmers wishing to cultivate these crops should apply at the town or township agricultural consultation offices within the application period.

A county official stated, “If the application period passes, any remaining seeds must be individually requested by phone or online, which can be inconvenient. We urge farmers who wish to cultivate to apply within the deadline.”
