[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 26th, Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, visited Gamaksan Anti-Aging Wellness Experience Center to inspect the growth status of plants and facilities, and to encourage the staff and workers.

About ten people, including Jung Young-deok, Director of the Forest Technology Headquarters at the Korea Forest Cooperative Federation, Jo Seon-je, head of the Geochang Forest Cooperative, the Director of the Economic and Industrial Bureau, and the Forest Division Chief, participated in the on-site inspection. They checked the growth status of plants such as Aster and Gujeolcho, the observatory, surrounding scenery, as well as convenience facilities including tourist safety facilities and parking lots.

After touring the summit of Gamaksan at an altitude of 900m, Director Jung Young-deok said, “This place offers views of the three major national parks: Jirisan, Deogyusan, and Gayasan. It has excellent forest resources such as flowers, wind turbines, birch trees, pine trees, and Korean pine trees, making it an optimal location as a forest tourism attraction known as the Alps of Yeongnam.” He also provided on-site advice on improvements needed, such as restrooms, parking lots, summer flower exhibitions, forest management, and the creation of flowers for all four seasons.

Mayor Gu In-mo of Geochang County stated, “The summit of Gamaksan, which attracted about 60,000 visitors last year through voluntary marketing, confirmed infinite potential for the development of Geochang County.” He instructed, “Please review the allocation of supplementary budgets for the promotion of the Gamaksan comprehensive development master plan project and for reinforcing safety facilities at the observatory and convenience facilities to ensure tourist safety, so that it can grow as a future growth engine for Geochang.”

The county plans to promptly take follow-up measures on the improvements pointed out during the on-site inspection that day and will also make thorough preparations for the flower-themed travel program this blooming autumn.
