[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that the Black Eagles airshow will be held for 15 minutes from 3 p.m. on the 31st over the Tamjin River near the Jangheung-eup Water Festival site.

Jangheung-gun has hosted the Black Eagles airshow for the first time for the opening ceremony of the 14th Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the water festival was inevitably canceled for two consecutive years, and the airshow was almost canceled as well. However, Jangheung-gun coordinated with the Air Force to proceed with the airshow in a non-face-to-face manner to provide entertainment for local residents, wish for overcoming COVID-19, and deliver a message of encouragement to the public, even if the festival itself was canceled.

The Black Eagles are the Republic of Korea Air Force's special flight team known for their high-level teamwork and flying skills, performing various aerobatic maneuvers. Eight supersonic trainer aircraft T-50B soar high into the sky, descend vertically, and perform dynamic and thrilling maneuvers such as crossing flights toward each other at speeds of 700 km/h, creating Korea's best airshow.

A Jangheung-gun official stated, “Even if you do not visit the Tamjin River area in person, you can watch the airshow live on Jangheung-gun's YouTube channel for 15 minutes from 3 p.m. on the 31st.”

County Governor Jeong Jong-sun said, “I hope the Black Eagles airshow can somewhat ease the regret of the water festival being canceled for two consecutive years,” and added, “I hope COVID-19 will end soon so that we can welcome tourists at the water festival site in 2022.”
