‘PM85’ Model Passes Verizon Certification in the US
Expecting Sales Expansion on Amazon US Following Amazon India Success

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Point Mobile, an industrial mobile device manufacturer, announced on the 26th that it has been selected as the final successful bidder for the postal service PDA of the Korea Post by partnering with Korea Information Technology, a system integration service specialist company, in 2021.

The product supplied by Point Mobile this time is a PDA equipped with a high-performance scan engine featuring 'Global Shutter' technology. It provides an optimized special scan angle considering the delivery workers' workflow. Additionally, it is designed to minimize work fatigue during long hours of use with a lightweight of 286g. It has also passed a 1.2m drop test and extreme environmental tests ranging from -20°C to 60°C.

Approximately 4,000 units of this product are scheduled to be deployed for delivery and dispatch tasks starting from October this year.

Following a 4 billion KRW supply contract with CHY (formerly Korea Yakult) in April, Point Mobile is expected to maintain its number one market share in the domestic industrial mobile PDA market by being selected as the final supplier for the Korea Post PDA.

Point Mobile is also achieving good results in overseas exports, led by Amazon. Earlier this year, it attracted significant attention upon its KOSDAQ listing with a long-term $200 million contract with Amazon.

In particular, with the recent certification of the ‘PM85’ model by the US telecom company Verizon, full-scale supply to Amazon’s US logistics warehouses is expected to begin in the second half of this year. Accordingly, Point Mobile anticipates that its sales, which were previously mainly concentrated on Amazon India, will expand to Amazon US as well.

Amazon operates 1,170 (48.2%) of its 2,427 logistics warehouses worldwide within the United States. Supported by this, Point Mobile’s sales in 2021 are expected to exceed approximately 90 billion KRW.
