30s Man Dies from Fall After Janssen Vaccination with Delirium Symptoms... "Investigating Vaccine Causality"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Health authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of death of a man in his 30s who showed signs of mental confusion and died after falling following the administration of the COVID-19 Janssen vaccine.

According to Chungcheongbuk-do on the 16th, A (30), who received the Janssen vaccine at a hospital in Seoul on the 14th of last month as a reservist and civil defense member, fell from the third floor of a hospital parking lot located in Sangdang-gu, Cheongju, on the morning of the 6th and died.

A, who worked in Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, had come down to Cheongju, where his family home is located, after receiving the vaccine. On that day, he showed symptoms of neurasthenia and difficulty breathing and visited Hospital B with his family for treatment. While waiting in the hospital parking lot to receive a medical certificate, A suddenly exhibited signs of mental confusion and fell.

A’s father explained the situation, saying, "While waiting in the car for my daughter who went to get the medical certificate, my son (B) suddenly got out of the car and jumped down from the parking lot." A was transferred to a nearby higher-level hospital but ultimately died due to multiple fractures and excessive bleeding.

A’s father stated, "My son, who came home, suddenly started talking nonsense and showed symptoms of breathing difficulty, convulsions, and fever, and fainted, so we went to the hospital, but this happened."

He added, "It is highly likely that the mental confusion symptoms shown by my usually healthy son were side effects of the vaccine," and insisted, "The cause must be identified."

The medical opinion issued by Hospital B reportedly stated, "After a sudden fainting episode three days ago, cognitive changes were observed. These cognitive changes appeared after the Janssen vaccine administration, and differential diagnosis is necessary."

In response, health authorities are investigating whether there is a causal relationship between A’s death and the vaccine administration. The police have requested an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

A health official said, "An autopsy on A was conducted on the 8th, and an investigation to find causality with the vaccine is underway," adding, "It will take about a month for the results to come out."
