[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City has completed COVID-19 vaccinations for 401,300 people 118 days after starting the vaccination campaign. This accounts for 27.5% of the total local population of 1,457,161.
According to the city on the 25th, the vaccination status by vaccine is as follows: AstraZeneca first dose recipients number 286,488, with 25,100 having completed the second dose; Pfizer first dose recipients number 83,377, with 62,708 having completed the vaccination. Additionally, 31,435 people have completed vaccination with the single-dose Janssen vaccine.
The total number of citizens who have completed vaccination is 119,243. Based on the target population of those aged 18 and over, which is 1,233,340, the first dose coverage is 32.5%, and the fully vaccinated rate is 9.7% of the total.
The city plans to accelerate vaccinations in the second half of the year. First, from the 5th to the 17th of next month, vaccinations will be administered to seniors aged 60 to 74 and essential social workers under 30. From the 19th of next month, vaccinations will continue targeting college entrance exam candidates and staff at daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary to high schools.
Furthermore, from the end of next month, vaccinations will be given to those in their 50s, and after August, the city plans to speed up vaccinations for those aged 18 to 49.
Seo Cheol-mo, Deputy Mayor of Daejeon City, stated, “The city will continue vaccinations aiming to complete the first dose for more than 70% of the population by September in accordance with government policies,” and added, “We urge eligible individuals to actively participate in vaccination according to the vaccination schedule.”
