Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital Introduces 'Magnetom Vida' Latest MRI Device, First in Jeonnam Region

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital has introduced the latest MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) equipment, significantly reducing waiting times while providing fast and accurate examinations. It has also dramatically improved patient comfort by reducing noise and feelings of claustrophobia.

Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on the 23rd that it recently became the first in the Jeonnam region to introduce the 3-Tesla MRI device, ‘MAGNETOM Vida’.

MAGNETOM Vida is the world’s first MRI model to incorporate biomatrix technology. By equipping hardware that automatically recognizes patients’ biometric signals and new technologies that reduce image distortion, it can accurately examine more patients.

Examinations are conducted considering the respiratory cycle and condition through real-time detection sensors installed in the MRI.

Because it automatically corrects movements caused by breathing, abdominal MRI scans are now possible for unconscious critical emergency patients, patients with communication difficulties such as dementia or hearing impairment, and pediatric and elderly patients who cannot hold their breath for long.

In addition, special examinations such as cardiac tests, brain function tests, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy, as well as most diseases within the human body, can be examined in a short time.

3D imaging, which had limitations due to examination time constraints, has been enhanced qualitatively and temporally by applying the latest imaging techniques, enabling 3D images to be acquired in a short time.

Since the introduction of the latest equipment, the MRI examination reservation waiting period has been drastically reduced from 2.5 weeks to 1.5 weeks.

Shin Myung-geun, director of Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital, said, “By introducing the latest MRI, we can reduce examination waiting times and increase satisfaction for patients and their guardians using the hospital,” adding, “We will strive to provide better medical services through fast and accurate diagnoses.”
