Jeonnam Fire Department Conducts 'Special Fire Safety Inspection' of Large Logistics Warehouses in the Province

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 22nd that it will establish emergency safety measures and conduct a special fire inspection targeting 22 large logistics warehouses in the province.

This special inspection is a measure to prevent fires similar to the fire accident at the Coupang Logistics Center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.

By the end of this month, the special inspection will focus on ▲ joint special fire inspections by fields such as fire, architecture, electricity, and gas ▲ fire prevention consulting by fire station chiefs ▲ training on securing hydrants using fire trucks.

In addition, the inspection will focus on checking the power shutdown and neglect of fire facilities, sound devices such as alarm bells on control panels, securing evacuation routes, and the status of electrical safety management including sprinkler systems.

Fire training consulting will be provided to ensure that facility personnel communicate the situation and guide evacuation from the early stages of a fire. The structure of buildings and goods storage areas will also be checked to enable prompt response.

Chief Ma Jaeyoon said, “Since fires in logistics facilities have a high potential to spread into large-scale fires, we will do our utmost to minimize fire occurrences in logistics facilities through proactive prevention activities.”

Meanwhile, at around 5:30 a.m. on the 17th, a fire broke out on the second basement floor of the Coupang Logistics Center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, resulting in the death of one firefighter and injuries to another.

In the past five years, there has been one logistics terminal fire in Jeonnam, which occurred in April 2017 at the Gwangyang Daehan Tongun Terminal. Although there were no casualties at that time, property damage amounting to 9 million won was reported.
