Park Beom-gye and Kim Oh-soo Meeting... Exchange of Opinions on Prosecutor Mid-Level Personnel Appointments


[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, met with Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo to discuss plans for mid-level prosecutor personnel appointments.


According to the Ministry of Justice on the 20th, at 6:30 p.m. that day, Minister Park and Prosecutor General Kim exchanged opinions on the legislatively announced organizational reform plan and personnel matters on the 15th floor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office building in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.


The meeting, which lasted for an hour and a half, was attended by Koo Ja-hyun, Director of the Prosecutor's Office at the Ministry of Justice, and Ye Se-min, Director of the Planning and Coordination Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. The two reportedly discussed the overall direction of the prosecutor personnel appointments and the main candidates for key positions. A Ministry of Justice official explained, "This was an official procedure to hear the Prosecutor General's opinion regarding mid-level prosecutor personnel appointments."


Meanwhile, as the official procedure to hear the Prosecutor General's opinion took place that day, there is speculation that mid-level prosecutor personnel appointments will soon be carried out. The Ministry of Justice announced plans to hold a Prosecutor Personnel Committee meeting within this month and to announce the appointments.
