Geoje-si Naedo, Jisimdo, and Isudo Selected as '33 Islands You Want to Visit in 2021'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 17th that three islands?Naedo, Jisimdo, and Isudo?have been selected as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's ‘33 Islands to Visit in 2021.’

Naedo, chosen as a walking-friendly island, is designated as part of Hallyeohaesang National Park. It is covered with temperate broadleaf evergreen forests including camellia trees, machilus trees, and Japanese nutmeg-yew trees, and the ‘Naedo Premium Trail’ is well maintained, making it ideal for walking.

Jisimdo, selected as a storytelling island, was under military ownership before being transferred to Geoje City in 2017, so it has seen little foot traffic. As a result, its primeval forests boasting camellia and machilus trees that are hundreds of years old are well preserved.

Additionally, it retains original Japanese military relics from the Japanese colonial period (including four artillery batteries, a battery observation post, an ammunition depot, a searchlight storage, and a power station), making it a beautiful island full of stories.

Isudo, chosen as a relaxing island, offers tourists staying at local guesthouses a one-night, three-meal package featuring fresh sashimi made from seafood freshly caught in the nearby pristine waters, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquil island village scenery and have a comfortable rest.

A Geoje City official said, “Due to the recent trend of preferring non-face-to-face travel, island trips are gaining attention,” and added, “We hope many people enjoy the beautiful island scenery of Geoje City, recover from their tiring daily lives, and create many good memories.”
