[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said on the 17th, "We will do our utmost to resolve the difficulties faced by companies in new industries struggling with outdated regulations that do not fit reality."

On the afternoon of the same day, Prime Minister Kim chaired the Government Policy Issue Inspection and Coordination Meeting at TmaxSoft's Research and Development (R&D) Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and said, "The government has improved about 300 regulations related to new industries through six rounds of revisions, but listening to voices from the field, it is clear that there are still many shortcomings." He added, "Based on the demands raised in the fields of drones, ICT, medical devices, and renewable energy, we have prepared about 30 additional improvement measures. We hope these improvements will help companies launch new products and develop new technologies."

Furthermore, he said, "For the growth of new industries, it is very important to coordinate conflicts with existing companies along with regulatory innovation," and urged, "Relevant ministries and agencies should carry out more proactive and preemptive administration, including mediation with stakeholders, to ensure that conflicts do not hinder the emergence of new businesses."

Prime Minister Kim also emphasized the importance of strengthening software competitiveness. He said, "There is a saying that 'cars run not on fuel but on software,' highlighting that software is becoming increasingly important as a national core technology that promotes convergence between industries." He added, "We will significantly improve the entire public procurement process from ordering, certification, to purchasing so that more creative and innovative commercial software can be introduced in the public sector." He continued, "To build a high value-added software ecosystem, we will support the entire cycle from planning to commercialization as a package tailored to field demands, and also strengthen efforts to support global market entry and promote open software."
