The area where the labor assistance is taking place is Changnyeong-gun, where a cluster of COVID-19 infections among foreign workers occurred.
Following the garlic and onion labor assistance from the 9th to the 11th, they are now working to complete the onion harvest this week.
Employees from Gyeongnam Province and Buulkyung Agricultural Policy Support Group Nonghyup will support onion harvesting at nine vulnerable farms in Changnyeong-gun over two days.
Lee Jeong-gon, Director of the Agricultural Policy Bureau, stated, "Other major onion producing areas such as Uiryeong, Hapcheon, and Hamyang are also experiencing severe labor shortages due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
