[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 15th that it has installed a 'Smart Fine Dust Safety Shelter' equipped with an outdoor air purification device at the Seo-gu Culture Center bus stop in front of Kumho-dong Majae Neighborhood Park.
The Smart Fine Dust Safety Shelter uses the principle of outdoor air purification by pushing fine dust trapped in the atmospheric inversion layer to the upper layer to block descending fine dust, creating a dome-shaped air barrier in the open space to prevent fine dust inflow and fill the interior with clean air.
Normally functioning as a bus stop, when the external fine dust concentration reaches a 'bad' level, the air purification device operates to automatically block the inflow of fine dust.
When the outside temperature exceeds 33℃, an automatic humidity control and cooling function activates to prepare for heat waves.
The built-in fine dust meter displays fine dust information in real time on an internal screen monitor, and it also offers wireless charging for mobile phones, with heated benches planned to operate during winter.
A Seo-gu official stated, “The Smart Fine Dust Safety Shelter is not just a simple bus stop but an eco-friendly bus stop that purifies polluted air such as fine dust and exhaust fumes and provides fine dust information, enhancing user convenience. We will strive to create a pleasant environment by providing clean air to citizens using public transportation.”
