[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A man in his 20s, the suspect in the 'Bundang Taxi Driver Stabbing Murder Case' that occurred last month, has been arrested and indicted. It was revealed that this man killed a woman he met through a chat application and, after failing to satisfy his sexual desires, killed a taxi driver in a fit of rage.
On the 7th, the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office announced that A (22) was arrested and indicted on charges of attempted murder and murder. Considering the motive, method, and circumstances after the crime, they also requested an electronic monitoring order.
According to the prosecution, A, a university student on leave, is accused of suddenly drawing a weapon in the back seat of a taxi driving on a road near Migeum Station in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, at around 9:45 p.m. on the 14th of last month, and stabbing the 60-year-old taxi driver B multiple times in the neck, chest, and side, killing him.
On that day, A had taken a taxi with a weapon he purchased to kill a woman C, whom he met through a chat application under the pretense of a transactional meeting, but abandoned the plan after judging that C was wary of him.
Angry that his plan was thwarted, A is believed to have taken out his frustration by killing B, the taxi driver. After B was stabbed, the taxi crashed into nearby roadside trees and stopped, and as A tried to flee, he was stopped by a tow truck driver who arrived at the scene.
Subsequently, A was arrested on the spot by police who responded to reports from citizens. It was investigated that he had been receiving outpatient treatment for mental illness since 2015.
The prosecution explained that A intended to satisfy his sexual desires using the victim's body after killing C. They added charges of attempted murder to the indictment against A.
Earlier, on the 24th of last month, a post titled 'A sincere petition for the disclosure of personal information and severe punishment (death penalty) for the Bundang taxi driver stabbing murderer' was uploaded on the Blue House National Petition Board.
