Special Sale Event at Hanaro Mart Yangjae Branch
County Governor Guarantees Quality to Boost Consumer Trust
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The first special sales event of the year for 'Hamyang Onion,' the first certified agricultural specialty product in Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, was held.
According to the county, a sales event for Hamyang Onion, the first certified agricultural specialty product of Hamyang-gun, was held at the Seoul Hanaro Mart Yangjae branch, marking the start of full-scale sales.
About 20 people attended the Seoul special sales event, including Seo Chun-soo, Mayor of Hamyang-gun, Hwang Tae-jin, Chairman of Hamyang County Council, Ha Myung-gon, Executive Director of Nonghyup Economic Holdings, Jeong Yeon-tae, CEO of Nonghyup Distribution, Noh Ki-chang, Head of Nonghyup Hamyang Branch, Kang Seon-wook, Head of Hamyang Nonghyup, and Noh Myung-hwan, President of the Hamyang County Alumni Association in Seoul, along with other alumni members, introducing the true taste of Hamyang Onion to Seoul consumers.
The Hamyang-gun agricultural specialty product quality certification system was implemented by Mayor Seo upon his inauguration, feeling regret that although Hamyang agricultural specialty products are of good quality, they do not receive proper prices. The system guarantees quality through thorough quality control, differentiated selection and distribution, and aims to brand agricultural products as premium.
To implement the quality certification system, the county proceeded with related procedures such as enacting ordinances, selecting items, setting quality standards, establishing quality management systems, and holding explanatory meetings for producer groups. As a result, Hamyang Onion, the first certified agricultural specialty product, was introduced this time.
Mayor Seo stated, “Starting with this onion, we will promote the quality certification system for key products produced in the county such as apples, create a system that guarantees quality and takes full responsibility, and do our best to raise awareness.”
Meanwhile, Hamyang Onion, the county’s representative agricultural specialty product, is cultivated by 667 farms over 756 hectares this year, and with the recent start of full-scale onion harvesting, it is expected to be introduced to consumers nationwide.
