[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 3rd that it is making every effort to provide administrative support for safe and prompt COVID-19 vaccination.

Since the opening of the COVID-19 vaccination center on the 15th of last month, among 5,914 elderly facility residents and seniors aged 75 and over who consented to vaccination, 4,085 (69%) have completed the first dose, and 2,665 (45%) have completed the second dose. Those who have not yet been vaccinated started new vaccinations from the 1st and plan to complete vaccinations for seniors aged 75 and over by the end of June.

Vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine for those aged 60 to 74, which have been sequentially administered at six designated medical institutions since the 27th of last month, are progressing smoothly with a 12% vaccination rate in just three days. The pre-reservation rate at designated medical institutions is 70%, surpassing the national average of 68%.

As vaccinations at public health centers in island and mountainous areas without designated medical institutions have been continuously requested and permitted, seniors aged 60 to 74 who have not been vaccinated at designated medical institutions and seniors aged 75 and over who have not been vaccinated at the vaccination center can receive vaccinations at public health centers starting from the 8th. It is expected that the vaccination rate will increase further once vaccinations at public health centers begin.

Sinan-gun is supporting transportation measures such as chartered buses and taxi fares to ensure safe transportation of seniors aged 75 and over to the vaccination center, and is promoting safe vaccinations at the vaccination center through administrative personnel and manpower support from the Hope Work Project.

Additionally, to improve vaccination reservation rates, various promotional methods such as religious groups, village chiefs, village broadcasts, SNS, individual phone calls, and visits are being used to encourage vaccinations.

Pre-vaccination reservations can be made until the 3rd through the public health center call center and each eup/myeon public health center. Seniors who have difficulty making reservations alone can visit the public health center with their ID and a mobile phone registered in their name to receive assistance with reservations.

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “Vaccination is the most effective way to protect myself, my family, and my neighbors from COVID-19,” and urged, “Residents who have not yet made a pre-reservation should hurry to make a reservation by June 3.”
