'The Trend of ESG Management'... SK Group Employees Learn 'New Corporate Spirit'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Group's in-house education platform, 'mySUNI,' has newly established numerous internal training courses this year that actively reflect core management strategies such as ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) and Financial Story. This is to help all SK Group members actively implement Chairman Chey Tae-won's management philosophy of 'New Entrepreneurship' in each affiliate's business and contribute to solving social issues.

According to SK Group on the 2nd, mySUNI expanded and reorganized the existing Energy Solutions course into the 'Environmental College' last month. The Environmental College includes a variety of content ranging from conceptual lectures on comprehensive ESG and differentiated carbon neutrality, resource circulation, hydrogen, and other environmental issues to project courses combined with business models. Earlier this year, a 'Business Model (BM) Design and Storytelling College' class was newly established.

'mySUNI' was launched in January last year as SK Group's in-house education platform, where employees are required to receive 200 hours of training annually, which is 10% of their working hours. Initially, it covered future capabilities such as AI, Digital Transformation (DT), happiness, and social value, but it is now expanding content into recently trending areas such as semiconductor courses, energy solutions, environment, and BM storytelling.

The reason mySUNI is expanding and creating new content is due to the growing interest among employees in ESG management and financial stories. After Chairman Chey Tae-won urged at the CEO seminar in October last year that "each group affiliate should gain more market trust through financial stories containing attractive goals and concrete execution plans," SK affiliates have been discovering and specifying financial stories.

Collaborations with global scholars for differentiated content are also notable. Professor Damodaran of New York University, author of 'Narrative and Numbers,' known as a guidebook for storytelling, gave a lecture directly for SK members, gaining popularity among employees.

The special lectures by outside directors of each affiliate, which started at the end of May as part of governance restructuring centered on the board of directors, are also attracting attention. Yeom Jae-ho, Chairman of the SK Inc. Board, Kim Yong-hak, Chairman of the SK Telecom Board, and Shin Chang-hwan, Director of SK Hynix, have already conducted special lectures on the development directions of related industries. Other outside directors such as Kim Jun-mo (SK Telecom) and Song Ho-geun (SK Hynix) will continue to present topics that encourage SK members to shift their perspectives.

A mySUNI official stated, "mySUNI will continue to be a partner that helps SK members understand the company's deep change strategy and develop the capabilities to execute it in the field, leading affiliates to secure rapid change execution capabilities."
