[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun Agricultural Technology Center announced on the 12th that it held a completion ceremony for the 'Traditional Korean Tea and Dessert Specialized Training Course.'
Sancheong-gun is the only region in Gyeongnam to promote the pilot program of the Traditional Food School developed by the Rural Development Administration.
This completion ceremony was also conducted as part of the Sancheong Traditional Food School pilot project, producing 22 graduates. The ceremony was held online with minimal attendees.
Ko Hee-sook, Director of the Rural Resources Division at the Gyeongnam Provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services, attended the ceremony via an online video conferencing system and congratulated the smooth progress of the long-term practical training online.
The exhibited works showcased over 30 items actively utilizing local agricultural specialties, including flower jelly, five-colored paprika yanggaeng (traditional jelly dessert), and bee pollen traditional Korean tea sweets. The county agricultural center conducted a total of nine online training sessions over a month starting in April.
As an instructor, Kim Mi-sook, CEO of the Yakseon Hyangto Food Research Institute, was invited to conduct online practical sessions covering theory for understanding traditional Korean tea sweets and simplified cooking methods.
The county agricultural center plans to continue the Sancheong Traditional Food School pilot program, including traditional Korean tea sweets education and courses for obtaining rice cake technician certification for local residents.
One trainee said, "Although the traditional Korean tea sweets education conducted online was initially challenging and burdensome, as time passed, it was good to practice comfortably at home and save time. I could also immediately resolve any questions and share others' works and opinions online."
