Jeonnam Police Arrest 9 Members of a Gang Distributing Drugs Alongside Rice in Rural Areas

On the 6th, the Jeonnam police announced that they arrested nine people, including drug distributor A (50) and rice distributor B (43), on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, and detained six of them.

They are suspected of selling drugs along with rice using parcel delivery services to acquaintances nationwide from April to July last year.

The police seized 38.65g of marijuana, 1.3g of methamphetamine, and one marijuana plant from them.

It was investigated that Mr. B sent rice to the drug distributor, suggesting he try rice distribution, and received drugs instead of money as payment for the rice.

The police tracked and arrested the group who disguised drug transactions as rice distribution over the past year.

The Jeonnam Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit stated, “We plan to strengthen publicity activities, including education on the seriousness and harm of drug addiction and raising awareness of punishment, targeting rural areas where awareness of drug risks is relatively weak.”
