President Moon and First Lady Hold 'Online Meeting' with 38 Children: "Children Are the Main Characters of the World"

President Moon Jae-in and the First Lady held an online meeting with 38 elementary school students from Doseong Elementary School on the 4th in celebration of Children's Day.

In this meeting, which was conducted by connecting the Blue House main office and Doseong Elementary School via video call, President Moon and the First Lady wore lavalier microphones and name tags that read "President Moon Jae-in" and "First Lady Kim Jung-sook" while meeting the students.

Four large screens were installed in front of the table where President Moon and the First Lady sat, with guard doll figures placed on both sides of the table and dolls and robot toys arranged behind them to create a friendly atmosphere. The event was hosted by Ddoti and Papuri (Jin-ryeol and Kang Hoi), YouTubers popular among teenagers.

Doseong Elementary School, located in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, has a total of 38 students and operates 100 minutes of playtime before and after classes to guarantee children's right to play, making it a "Play Empathy School." The students were divided into two classes in different classrooms: the Ddoti team (Doseong Elementary grades 1, 3, and 5) and the Papuri team (Doseong Elementary grades 2, 4, and 6).

President Moon said, "Children's Day is a day when children are the main characters of the world. Wouldn't it be great if every day was Children's Day?" and added, "To all the children across the country, happy Children's Day."

President Moon continued, "I wanted to meet all of you children at the Blue House, but due to COVID-19, we are meeting like this through the screen," and added, "Next year, I will try to make it possible for you children to spend Children's Day at the Blue House."

The First Lady also said, "President Grandpa thinks every day about how our children can be happier and more joyful," and added, "As a grandmother, I will also do my best so that friends can always stay healthy and happy."

President Moon also said, "My biggest wish as President Grandpa is for you to take off your masks and run around excitedly with your friends as soon as possible," and added, "To make that day come quickly, we all need to follow the quarantine rules well and work together."

Afterwards, President Moon and the First Lady spent 30 minutes playing and talking with the elementary students through the game "The Road to Doseong Elementary School." Considering the COVID-19 situation, this event was held online again, just like last year.
