[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Haman-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has organized a special collection team for water and sewage fees and has begun operating a responsible arrears collection system by assigned districts.
Haman-gun announced on the 14th that it has designated the period until May as a special settlement period for overdue water and sewage fees and has organized a special collection team to operate responsible arrears collection by assigned districts.
The county has so far refrained from administrative measures such as water cutoffs as much as possible. However, as habitual and high-amount defaulters have gradually increased, it has decided to carry out strong collection activities to improve fairness with diligent payers.
Accordingly, a water cutoff notice will be sent to high-amount and habitual defaulters, granting a voluntary payment period. For those who do not pay, strong administrative measures such as water cutoff and property seizure will be taken to eliminate the arrears.
An official from the county water and sewage business office said, "We will take strong administrative actions against chronic defaulters who intentionally avoid paying water and sewage fees, so we ask that you pay your water and sewage fees within the period to avoid any disadvantages."
