[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it has expanded the measurement range by installing two additional environmental radiation monitoring devices that check radiation levels in real time.

Within the jurisdiction, there are already environmental radiation monitoring devices installed at three locations (including Habuk-myeon) linked with the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) and three locations (including Seochang-dong) installed independently by the city. This time, the city independently installed environmental radiation monitoring devices at Wondong-myeon Administrative Welfare Center and Ungsang Branch Office.

The mobile monitoring device in Wondong-myeon operates using solar panels, allowing it to function even in places without electricity. The vehicle-mounted monitoring device on the parking enforcement vehicle at Ungsang Branch Office has the advantage of measuring radiation levels while moving.

The city continuously shares environmental radiation measurement data with KINS. Environmental radiation data can be checked on the National Environmental Radiation Automatic Monitoring Network website or through the Yangsan City Environmental Radiation app.

Baek Jong-jin, Head of Safety General Division, said, “Through the additional installation of these environmental radiation monitoring devices, we will monitor radiation levels without any leakage and provide measurement information to citizens to prepare in advance for radiation exposure risks.”
