[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Kim Han-jong, Chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, attended the opening ceremony of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 12th to encourage and congratulate the staff.

According to the Jeonnam Provincial Council, the new Jeonnam Fire Headquarters building was constructed on the site of the former Jangheung Prison, consisting of a 4-story main building and a 2-story fire station building, with a total area of 5,000㎡. The project cost a total of approximately 16.8 billion KRW, with construction starting in January 2019 and completing in December last year after a two-year project period.

With this opening, disaster response agencies such as the Fire School, Special Rescue Team, and the Provincial Volunteer Fire Brigade Association have been centralized around the Fire Headquarters. Additionally, a fire safety cluster capable of integrated management of fire resources was established, enabling a strengthened role as a disaster command center.

Chairman Kim Han-jong stated, “With the opening of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, it has become possible to respond to all disasters within the province within one hour,” and added, “I hope the Fire Headquarters quickly settles in to provide better fire services and become a trusted fire headquarters that protects the lives and property of local residents.”

He continued, “Firefighters have stood by the residents 365 days a year, not only during fire and rescue operations but also during large-scale disasters such as COVID-19,” and said, “We will spare no support so that they can work with a sense of mission and pride.”
