[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it held a Rural Agreement Committee meeting, organized with administrative officials, experts, and resident representatives chaired by Vice Governor Choi Yong-nam, to prepare for the 'Rural Agreement' public contest project.

The Rural Agreement is a new policy introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to achieve joint policy tasks between central and local governments aimed at improving rural living conditions. It is an agreement directly signed by the minister and the county governor based on the Rural Spatial Strategy Plan (20 years) and the Rural Living Zone Revitalization Plan (5 years).

If selected in the contest, the county will receive up to 30 billion KRW in national funds and local funds over five years to implement essential projects such as creating a 365 living zone, improving vulnerable areas, expanding residential spaces, and regenerating rural spaces.

At the first Rural Agreement Committee meeting, the progress of the Rural Spatial Strategy Plan and the Rural Living Zone Revitalization Plan was reviewed, future directions were set, and various opinions were presented to supplement deficiencies.

Governor Moon said, “The county is considered a high-risk area for population extinction. If the Rural Agreement is added as a foundation for future growth engines, it will be possible to respond not only to the 365 living zone but also to the era of population aging and decline,” and urged the committee members to “strive to plan substantial projects tailored to the characteristics of the region.”
